A shuttle stop, trailhead and vault toilet 6.8 miles up Bear Lake Road, at 8,840 feet. The trail to Bierstadt Lake climbs steeply for 1.5 miles and about 500 feet, with views over aspens, Sprague Lake and Longs Peak; the park notes that many hikers start from Bear Lake Trailhead instead, which the park lists at 2 miles with 290 feet of gain.
